""Harrak, this "great regional power" that you call Iran needs Russia and China to stick it up.

Why, it could not even beat saddam in his better days even after fighting him for 8 years""

Here is why!

1- Iran did fight without well structured army and only improfessional Mullahs run the show.

2- Iran fought alone against all Arab joined effort except syria, lebanon, lybia and sudan+ USSR+ US+ France+ Britain. An army of Mullah that resisted 8 years against these powers should be saluted just from the technical side.

3-At that time Iran did not have a DELIVERY SYSTEM and local military industries were poor.

4- No nuclears arms at that time

5- No well organized foreign mellitias out side Iran (like Hizbollah lebanon, Shiite Melitias in general in Iraq and Bahrain -Bahrain melitias are dead cells that can be activated when needed)

6- There was no Shihab MISSILES -3000 km- and Fajr 1500-2000 km capable to carry nukes.

7- No Mithaq missiles (anti plane) -surface to air-

8- no Kawtar missiles -surface to sea-

9- No unamed sea to sea missiles

10- no pilot-less spying planes etc..

now, the situation is uncomparably different than the 1980s...

I hope this answered you.

Remember, Iran lost 2 million people and still wanted to persist the war..the USA lost 2 thousand soldiers and they already scheduling a retreat...
