Fuuugggedddabouddit !!!!!Reader comment on item: Deterring Tehran Submitted by Joe (United States), May 9, 2006 at 17:11 Normally I'm a big Pipes fan, but as Mickey Blues said, Forget About It, only with a cheesy mafia accent. Basically Pipes has taken the same position as the former Shah's son, Mr. Pahlavi, that the problem of Iran's expansionist regime is that it is not in the interests of Iran's people. This is nonsense. Both Muslim extremists and Persian nationalists now embrace the new Lunatic in Chief in charge in Iran because he has had the 'courage' to stand up to the great satan america, accumulate modern technology like nukes, threaten to send oil prices through the roof, support Hamas in Palestine, make IEDs for Iraq's insurgents, etc, etc. So what can we do? Lots, but unfortunately none of it is in Pipes comments or the policy of the U.S government. 1. Dialog for the Purpose of Exposure:. Bush, Cheney, Rice and the MBA idiots they employ missed a billion dollar opportunity by not responding in detail to the Lunatic in Chief's insane letter. Engage with the Lunatic, debate him publicly on the 2 paths for human civilization. Democracy or theocracy. Win over supporters in Iran and elsewhere, defeat Islam and theocracy as a political ideology on a world stage. 2. Government in Exile: Formally announce the 'Congress for the Iranian Government in Exile'. Appoint a titular head of that government. Arm it with mercenaries and special ops commandos trained here. Establish base areas for those that join the 'Iranian Liberation Army' and declare regime change in Iran as the formal policy of the U.S. government unless and until such time as the Lunatic in chief actually chooses to engage on the nukes issue. Question for the world community---How can a country that sponsors and rewards 'martyrdom' be allowed by the human community to have nukes. Put martyrdom on trial as the key toxic element in radical Islam's culture of death. 3. Repeal our Assassination Laws: In a very public fashion, introduce into congress a bill to repeal the ban on the Assassination of Foreign Leaders. Let the debate in congress grow hot and heavy. The republicans will win seats in congress if they do this. The Lunatic in chief and his Chinese and Russian enablers will get the point. 4. Nationalize the US Oil Industry: For the duration of the global war on terror and not one minute more, NATIONALIZE THE US OIL INDUSTRY. Change the game in the petroleum industry globally. Start getting serious about $200 barrel oil. Get oil executives interested in changing the status quo and winning the damned war. The honeymoon with big oil and middle eastern oil princes is over. 5. Establish U.S. Bases in Israel: Send a new super large battery of anti-missile defense systems to Israel. Establish an American military base inside Israel. A large one. Have the debate here on that as well. 6. Show Trials of Iranian Agents: Publicly showcase and show trial any Iranian Shiite agent captured inside Iraq in any capacity. Gain public admissions of their culpability and ties to Iranian intelligence services. Run TV commercials with their admissions. But all of these ideas assume the west's leaders have a clue. Unfortunately they don't and so in the U.S. and Europe new nationalist political parties will need to be established to address this problem. It's only going to get worse. It's time for fresh blood to re-energize the west.
