Israel must lead the game

Reader comment on item: Deterring Tehran

USA (or any western military power) should provide Israel with all the missing equipment that it would need for MAD (Mutual assured destruction) with an eventual agressor.

But Israel should include two targets in its instant retaliation plan: the iranian sides of the Hormuz strait and the Caspian sea. The message to the rest of the world would be clear: an attack on Israel would plunge the world in Economic and energetic chaos.

If nobody keep Ahmadinejhad from trying to get the bomb, it's because most Iranians think that Americans are to tired with the war in Irak to launch another war in Iran and that Westerners are too decadents and cowards to go to war and more so if they risk nuclear retaliation.

But for Israelis, it's another matter: two bombs only can annihilate them and would have nothing to lose by plunging the world in chaos while being wiped-out. If they were sure to suffer in such an eventuality, would the world nations be irresponsible enough to let a mad man like Ahmadinejhad have the Atomic bomb hoping he's bluffing in his intention to use it?

Chinese want to secure their oil supply? They must not oppose any UN economic sanction against Iran and use all their influence on any Iranian Oligarchy.

Russians want to protect their interests in Central Asia? They side along western nations because otherwise they will have a massive influx of Muslims immigrants fleeing a new Tchernobyl south of their border.

Risking such an isolation for Iran, the Iranian Oligarchy will remove Ahmadinejhad from power and hopefully stop the nuclear program.

In conclusion, I agree with Dr.Pipes but I suspect most people of the world (specially Chinese, Russians and western pacifists) to hope calming the appetite of the Islamist crocodile by feeding it with...Israel..

My suggestion would make this "solution" very, very, very costly for everyone.
