Pipes is piping...

Reader comment on item: Deterring Tehran

"an dem laesten loch," as Papageno disconsolately terms it in THE MAGIC FLUTE, as his breath and hope for a lovely wife oozes away in Mozart opera of hope and reason combined, or the last note of his piccolo.... He speaks of a "separation of civilizations."

I would suggest he and his readers glance at my literary essay put up on the site of the CALIFORNIA LITERARY REVIEW today: http://www.calitreview.com/Essays/roses_5023.htm. It is not political analysis but an essay for the general public.

And so far as his 3rd way through the dilemma facing US policy/action today goes, I offer the prophecy penned below, and a wish that folks would get serious about what the enemy is serious about, and not search for on this hand and on the other handm as Pipes is doing. They are hard men, and playing very hard ball, though a lot of it is successful bluff: QUATRAIN FOR THE END OF DAYS Not needed, your crystal ball — Neither visions nor insights. There's a moving hand that writes And it's writing on the wall.
