Noises instead of communication?

Reader comment on item: Deterring Tehran

Submitted by David W. Lincoln (Canada), May 10, 2006 at 00:48

Sorry, Mr. Pipes, the phenomenon of noises that run counter to what is going on is hardly new. Nazi Germany during the second world war sent out its catspaws with a single message: if you go easy on Hitler, you will have an easier time getting him out and someone more reasonable in. President Kennedy before the Bay of Pigs imbroglio was convinced via noises that Cubans were ready to rise as one man to get rid of Castro. Well, we all know how that played out. Mr. Pipes, Iran and the Mullahs running it into the ground have to held accountable for their actions, regardless of how loudly the anti-war clique shrieks. After all, if we don't, then we are communicating that it is okay for Iran to have tortured and killed Zahra Kazemi, amongst others for daring to shed the light of scrutiny on the actions of the Iranian government.
