The reason why the Islamic world is 'backwards' is because such things don't make men but destroy them - corruption, power, greed - all these attributes come with your 'world.'

As for these ayats (verses) I have never come across them - can you give me the reference (i.e. surah).

It was Islam that created the first medical textbook in Europe - produced gunpowder, increase medical knowledge, astrological included.
