Reader comment on item: King of Pop Michael Jackson and Black Converts to Islam
in response to reader comment: Michael Jackson, real muslims dont dress like women...

Submitted by wiqas (United Kingdom), Jan 15, 2007 at 05:25

hi this is to Amal who posted a note on the 14th of November 2006 at 7:31 .....

i am an extremely strong believer in Islam. the picture in which he wears the veil does not depict him in a womens clothing. the veil is not a womans cloth. if you do extensive research non the subject of the veil., the veil has been adapted into a picture and symbol of ISLAM. however, the research tells us that the veil was worn by both women and men in the time of the Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh). this was in the desert region to stop sand entering the eys in harsh conditions. the Qu'ran does tell the men not to dress like women and vice versa but Michael Jackson is just carrying on tradition.

the veil is just merely to cover oneself. if the cloth was a womens wear then yes i would agree with you . however, i am 16 years old, and i have a tendency to research as much as i can about Islam and i have found this out during my research. so in a nutshell the Veil is not womens clothing but merely a unisex clothing in which a man or women can be fixed......salam
