Black American converts to Islam

Reader comment on item: King of Pop Michael Jackson and Black Converts to Islam

This is an especially good piece in that it connects aberrant turns by odd personalities so as to suggest a larger pattern.

In addition, there is a common psychology shared by Islam, with its claims of victimization by the West, the claims of victimization common among criminals, and the culture of victimization that is now so deeply embedded in Black America. This is an especially toxic brew when one adds in oil money from the Mideast and the West's many academic and political enablers of violence whose ideology and collective power stem from their ability to spin out theories of victimization.

Will Saudi sheiks eventually go beyond funding the Nation of Islam to endowing professorships in African American studies so as to purchase a new source of political power in the US? Mercifully, established Islam apparently tends to regard their Black American coreligionists with disdain as having too many moochers, thugs, and con men.
