Reader comment on item: Barack Obama through Muslim Eyes

Submitted by Jascha Kessler (United States), Aug 25, 2008 at 15:06

Daniel Pipes closes his review of B.O.'s "Muslim" status in the world with, "Should Obama become president, differences in Muslim and American views of religious affiliation will create problems."

Problems are always with managers, from the intrapsychic level of the individual, the family, the community, the State, and the Nation. One would like to have had a tentative, speculative list of potential problems, whether for the world's Muslims, the USA [and its domestic fundamentalists of all kinds] and the White House leader, or for the candidate himself. It is to be hoped that a sort of symposium by leading policy pundits might be set up and pooled for the readers of this website.

Daniel Pipes replies:

I hinted at some of those problems in an earlier piece on Obama's childhood religion, "Was Barack Obama a Muslim?"
