Truth About ApostasyReader comment on item: Barack Obama through Muslim Eyes Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Oct 7, 2008 at 14:33 This is what happens when religion is juxtaposed to true discipleship in Jesus Christ. If each denomination, creed or belief system has a separate tenet on the issue of baptism, but there is a common belief in Jesus Christ, then it is a religious observation, not a matter of faith, that someone would go so far as to call no longer following a denomination an 'apostate.' In the Christian context, true apostacy is where faith in Jesus Christ is lapsed, typically where there was/is no personal relationship with Him. It would be the same as saying Barack Obama declares himself no longer a Muslim, as he stated his fatih in Jesus Christ at Saddleback Church, making him an apostate 'Muslim.' Sarah Palin is not an apostate in Biblical terms, but evidently is by religious terms, a former Catholic, of which there are millions. Only in the eyes of the more conservative Catholic circles would her situation be characterized as 'apostate.' Her relationship with Jesus Christ, that of a personal connection to Him through her faith, is eternal and assured, not by religious association, but by her confession that Jesus Christ is LORD in her life. If she is to be castigated for her beliefs, at least get it right, something apparently we have yet to completely get from Sen. Obama.
