The problem

Reader comment on item: Israel's Unnecessary War in Lebanon

Submitted by E.O (Israel), Jul 23, 2006 at 06:57

The American congress has officially given its support to Israel and condemned Hezbollah; Even the European Union has called Hezbollah a terrorist group. Lebanon, Syria and Iran should stop funding and providing for this brutal barbaric terrorist organization. But they won't stop, because Hezbollah are serving their interests - Striking the Zionists out of the Middle East (which belongs to the Arabs).

Israel is fighting for its right to exist; retaliation is one of its ways to do so. I am not a Zionist, but I definitely support the Israeli governments struggle to regain order back onto its borders, promising safety to its citizens from being shelled and bombed by mortars and rockets. Israel is stronger then Lebanon and Hezbollah, and the casualties are a lot more on their side, but unlike Hezbollah - Israel does not target civilians. The Hezbollah like the Hamas - use women and children as cover also to store and hide their weapons. (Look at Iraq)

It is a very hard war to win, but it has to be done, terrorism cannot win!

Unfortunately (and this is my punch line) the European countries, especially the media of those countries - are not aware of the dangers/threat that the democratic state of Israel has to deal with, neither with the risks America is under for mass terrorist attacks.

The Media always looks at the Humane side of the story, The CIA have tortured potential terrorists and have retrieved major intelligence from these people about planned future attacks. Without this cruel act - 1000's of people around the world would be dead today. The BBC and other networks don't care about this fact, all they want is for no man to suffer, torture is not the answer, diplomacy and talk is! Sometimes you have to do experiments on animals - as cruel as it sounds, in order to develop cures, so people can stay alive from deadly diseases.

Arafat won the Nobel Peace prize for tricking the world that he wanted peace with Israel. In fact he was always secretly funding the Hamas to carry out attacks on Israelis, until his luck run out when Israel caught him in the act. Today he will be remembered by the Western world as a former terrorist and liar, nothing more! Europe refused to listen to Israel's claims that Arafat was involved in terror - they were proved wrong.

In every war there are major mistakes made, and unnecessary casualties. It is a shame, but as I was saying before – the big problem is the concern; the media care for the individual, like those extremists in England who appose experimenting on animals.

They are right, but there are other more important issues to consider.

The danger I am pointing out is the power of Propaganda; the Media in Europe feeds the people with information and news. Therefore the majority of Europeans believe Israel is oppressing the Palestinians, and is killing civilians in Lebanon.

It is very hard to fight global terrorism when the Western world (who are the target when they don't cooperate) sticks out a foot to corrupt the fight.

If only Israel had better ambassadors and not people who are politically appointed who don't even speak proper English – Israel would be able to prove its position to the world and achieve global support for its day to day struggle to bring Peace to the Middle East.
