Reader comment on item: Israel's Unnecessary War in Lebanon

Submitted by Susan Weinstein (United States), Aug 2, 2006 at 14:55

Why is that we are a brilliant nation of people who are shamelessly lacking in brilliance when it comes to fighting the war on public relations/public opinion? Clearly this war was not begun by Israel. Clearly Israel has tried valiantly to reduce terrorist aggression by withdrawing first from Lebanon , offering Arafat a peace package, and finally withdrawing from the West Bank. And, clearly the world, as always blames Israel for everything.

I still cannot understand why the Israeli government did not put a spotlight on Hezbollah's activities by asking the world what Israel should do to defend itself, before taking military action.

Maybe I am being naiive, but I am "tired" of Israel being found guilty time after time, when it is a country merely trying to survive in a region surrounded by enemies who want only its total destruction. How can one negotiate with that?
