Reader comment on item: Israel's Unnecessary War in Lebanon

Submitted by Adam Symons (United States), Jul 18, 2006 at 16:10

The fate of Israel and how the so called "global village" responds to her crisis is not a Jewish or American issue. It is goes to the core of human morality. What is at the root of the apalling double standard to which this small thriving democracy is held?

The fate of Israel and how the so called "global village" responds to her crisis is not a Jewish or American national law doesn't sanction and indeed mandate Israel use all force necessary to eliminate the Islamist terrorists who have openly declared war on her this global village is setting a precedent for perpetual chaos and conflict.

How can Putin, based on isolated but deadly terror attacks from Chechyn rebels, use the full weight and power of the Russian army and airforce to crush the Islamic radicals by invading Chechnya? Is the force the Russians use "proportinate"? I support Putin and think it is. Similarly, If Putin, the UN and the global village answer in the affirmative how do they not also support Israel?

Islamists are at the root of every major crisis around the globe. Many nations seek to appease and capitulate Islamic-backed terror because of the apparent pain and cost involved with confrontation; moreover they seek to disguise their cowardice in multicultural relativism by refusing to judge present day Islam by the actions of its practitioners. There is nothing enlightened, progressive or liberal in tolerating the unbridled hatred involved in antisemitism, beheadings, homicide bombings or honor killing.

Politics are completely irrelevant to this issue. Our war in Iraq is irrelevant. If one doesn't believe all innocent blood spilled in this conflict, be it Lebanese or Israeli, is on the hands of Hezzbulah and the Islamist radicals who back them, one has no moral compass and seeks an agenda for this "global village" that does not include global peace.
