Reader comment on item: Israel's Unnecessary War in Lebanon

Submitted by Phyllis Strauss (United States), Jul 18, 2006 at 15:46

There are 2 concerns which, I think, should be raised increasingly to educate and prepare the international community.

One: Duplicity and deceit by Arab enemies of Israel seem to have turned some against Israel, 'tho' some really know better, than to believe the deceit. Maybe MEMRI translations should be circulated more widely, forced on people's attention. At the same time, the terms "lie" and "liar" might be promoted, when, appropriate, just as "terrorist" is now invoked more than previously. The term "lies" has been coming from Iran. We must use it with convincing proof.

Two: It is urgent to keep insisting on full disarmament of groups like Hamas, Hizballah when they are defeated because of the way they used arms when they were available. An analogy can be made with Germany and Japan after World War II. This disarmament should always be included with the goals of the present campaign by Israel.
