The above contributor has led me to discover some of the work of T P Hughes who wrote extensively on the topic of Islam in the last decade of the 19th century. As he pointed out it was written prior to any ideas of PC or a need for apologizing for Islam.

I have found on the internet his "The Dictionary of Islam" written in 1895. For those of you that google you should be able to find it. Many thanks to Alo Kievalar and to all on this forum who take the time to contribute.
