The Saudi Mufti el-Sheikh Bin Baz said that the Qur'an says that the moon and the sun orbit earth and the earth is stationary and that the moon landing in 1969 is a lie

Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict XVI and the Koran
in response to reader comment: Mufti of Saudi with King and Princes that went to space

Our dear Nasr how do you earn a living? For the readers there is a strange pre-occupation of lazy old men with religion in that part of the world

And while waiting for your answer here are two of my questions

Response to Answer 3 & 4[[Can you tell us O glorious madrassa graduate one more time does the Qur'an a book that you cannot read in Arabic say that the earth is the center of the universe and that the sun orbits earth? ]]

And this is his answer

No where the book says earth is centre of Universe.

Then why does Bin Baz tells us that so was he a liar and for this see below?

And here is what the Shia tell us about this disaster

http://hajrnet.net/hajrvb/showthread.php?t=403024247

And here is a Sunni site

http://majles.alukah.net/t19983/

Here read this

It is in black and white that the earth is stationary and the sun orbit earth

And here is the quote from the Qur'an

And here is tafseer Ibn Kathir to this disaster that the EARTH IS STATIONARY and that the sky can come down crashing on the flat and stationary earth

What a disaster so it seems that the old Sheikh was correct now you put up or and you must pardon me shut up

And here is what al-Qurtubi says

Or Truly the STATIONARY OF EARTH is what Muslims and Ahl al-Kitab agree on

These are not my words

And here is the book "The running of the sun and the moon and the stationary of earth" By Bin Baz and for the readers you can download the book and judge for yourselves

http://anwaarnet.com/?programs=show&show=2968

And here are Sunni Muslims supporting him and his funny claims

http://www.dd-sunnah.net/forum/showthread.php?t=160621

He even issued a fatwa of takfeer for anyone that disagrees with him and here is the fatwa

Or Who ever says that the earth runs in an orbit the sun is stationary then he is a kafir and misguided and he should seek repentence and he repents or he will be killed as a kafir and murtad and his money should go to the house of Muslim money

And here is the link

http://www.dd-sunnah.net/forum/showthread.php?t=129970

Reread. And later you put a source from Mufti of Saudi Arabia el-Sheikh Bin Baz , something dating to 50 years ago.

So what?

Like i post before, anybody can give their intrepataion about the verses of Quran.

Wrong again the Islamic tradition tells us again and again that

Which means that Muslims should listen to what the likes of Bin Baz say and this is why I only tell you what you revered sources tell us and I disregard all translations because many Muslims and you must pardon me the likes of Yusuf Ali are blatant liars

I do not translate Arabic for wannabe Arabs

And if it is found wrong they can be corrected. But still, the verses of Quran do not contradict truth and facts.

Then why does the Qur'an say as per Bin Baz that the earth is flat and starionary and the sun orbit earth you tell me

According to Lacey,

Who is Lacey?

bin Baz changed his mind about the earth's flatness after talking

Not true he only said that the sun must rotate around itself! But I will give you a chance where did he say that and provide the text IN ARABIC!

to Prince Sultan bin Salman Al Saud who had spent time in a space shuttle flight in 1985. [25]

Wrong again Bin Salman was busy trying to find the direction of al-Qibla and he knew better because he did not wish to be declared a kafir as per the above Fatwa which was issued in 1975 and is still in effect

in 1966 ibn Baz wrote "The quotation I cited [in his original article] from the speech of the great scholar

Arabic text please

Ibn Al-Qayyim

ROTFL it is al-Qayyum and do us a favor and stick to Urdu and al-Syriac name the word al-Qayyum القيوم is not an Arabic word and al-Tabari telle us that it must be القائم or القيووم

What a disaster al-Tabari is editing the Qur'an! al-Qayyum is a loan word from Syriac ܩܝܘܡܐ or Qayoma and here is the word in the Peshitta

http://www.dukhrana.com/lexicon/word.php?adr=2:18372&font=EHTTHTTP/1.1+200+OKDate:+Tue,+07+Dec+2010+15:49:39+GMTServer:+ApacheX-Powered-By:+PHP/5.3.3Last-Modified:+Fri,+05+Nov+2010+17:17:09+GMTETag:&source=ubs

What a disaster another foreign in the Qur'an

(may Allah be merciful to him) includes proof that the earth is round."[30]

Evidence in Arabic

As a result of the publication of his first article, ibn Baz was ridiculed by Egyptian journalists as an example of Saudi primitiveness,[27] and King Faisal was reportedly so angered by the first article that he ordered the destruction of every unsold copy of the two papers that had published it.

He never changed his mind and the disaster is Bin Baz was correct that the Qur'an says that the earth is stationary and the sun orbit earth he was no making thins up

In 1985, he changed his mind concerning the rotation of the earth (and, according to Lacey, ceased to assert its flatness),

Evidence? IN ARABIC

when Prince Sultan bin Salman returned home after a week aboard the space shuttle Discovery to tell him that he had seen the earth rotateThe Mufti got corrected. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abd_al-Aziz_ibn_Baz

You cannot correct a Mufti this is like asking the prince to operate on some brain

Bin Baz was 100%

What a disaster the Qur'an says that the earth is flat and the sun orbit earth and the earth is stationary and it is the center of the universe

I feel sorry for you but this gave us kuffar the chance to revisit this little Quranic disaster
