Hello again.

You say I have made a big mistake and the mistake seems to be: "You just pick up the sentences from the sura in the Koran". How is it different from the time worn excuse of out of context quotations. You have just worded it differently. In fact in my last post I gave the whole of Surah 95 and showed you God talking "this and that". Or take surah 111. Of what earthly use is that verse which is just Allah cursing someone and his wife.

Take 3:7. It stands on its own. What context does it have. And take the completely useless verses where God tells people to take a gift when they go to meet the prophet and the one about lowering their voices when near the prophet. These verses (49:2-4, 9:12-13, 33:30) carry no message at all as all the players are long dead. 33:30-33 are specially concerning the behaviour of the prophet's wives. If it says in the Koran that people should not talk loudly in the presence of Jesus what would Muslims of the time have thought. As a modern day Muslim what great messages are those verses conveying to you. Why is it telling you not to talk loudly in the presence of the prophet and why is it telling you to give charity before meeting the prophet. He has not been around for 1500 years.

I did ask a graduate of Daral uloom, Deoband about 111 and the verses above. He mumbled something about it being prophecy about Abu Lahab and his wife dying before being able to convert to Islam, and about respecting the prophet, also as a warning to those who disparaged the prophet in later years like the cartoonists. About the others he was equally incoherent and talked of their being to show why the prophet's wives were superior to other women and so that people would respect them down the ages.

No Fikri I don't need to consult an imam since the Koran itself says it is a book "clear and easy to understand". Why should I have to consult an imam when the Koran itself says it is easy to understand. Read: 054.017 (repeated in 054.022, 032, 040): And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?

How come my understanding is different from yours. Or does 54:17 and the other verses also have context. If there are any abrogating verses which say that I need Imams and tafsirs to understand the Koran, you will have to supply me with the verse numbers. You could also tell me what Al Fateha is all about since it does not begin with "Say".

I hope you find the time to enlighten me.
