Why a messiah..at all?

Reader comment on item: Pope Benedict XVI and the Koran
in response to reader comment: I have a question for the whole Islamic world

Why, in Islam or Judaism , does God even need to send a messiah..seriously?? In christianity, Jesus' death and resurrection paid the penalty for mens sins. By accepting Him, it was the only way a man could stand before God..as Heaven will have NO sin in it! And..without that reason, there is NO reason..for a messiah! God doesn't need any help! In Islam and Judaism..that is not the case! God has handled everything for ten zillion trillion years, and suddenly..."with two outs in the bottom of the ninth"...he needs a break?...he's tired?..needs a pinch hitter?..can't handle it anymore? Don't just give me a reply "because we were promised one". God can do ANYTHING!!! He can reign without any "messiah"! So...give me one good reason why God do so at all...except as the christian beliefs??
