Reference to Jewish Boy Killed on Brooklyn Bridge in 1994

Reader comment on item: "Death to America"

Submitted by Joe from Brooklyn (United States), Sep 8, 2002 at 23:47

In your 9/8/02 NY Post article, you cite in a list of Islamic attacks in the USA:

"March 1994: an Orthodox Jewish boy killed on the Brooklyn Bridge."

At the time, prosecutors and police said they found no evidence that the shooter, an Egyptian cabbie named Baz, was acting on behalf of any entity or organization, but was simply a murderous anti-Semitic thug.

Could you explain why you included this attack on your list? Thanks (I enjoy your articles very much--keep on keepin' on, Dr. Pipes)

Daniel Pipes replies:

The FBI eventually changed its mind and deemed this a terrorist attack.

But even if it had not, I don't define terrorism by listening to the FBI, which has yet to call the July 4, 2002 LAX assault a terrorist attack. The FBI is constrained by political correctness; I am not.
