When it all started

I remember the day the Iranians took the Embassy and, also, remember wondering what the purpose of Marine guards was if it wasn't to open fire when an Embassy is being stormed! It was the first, big, critical mistake and sign of weakness in the battle against militant Islamists.

I blame the administration of President Jimmy Carter. A very good man. A very ineffective President. When former President Carter renders an opinion on what we should do to fight terrorism today, I disregard it. He should remain mute on that issue. Had he shown decisive strength at the beginning, lives would have been lost, but many more might be alive today.
