Islamic Attacks on Americans Date Back to 1974

Reader comment on item: "Death to America"

Submitted by Gerry (United States), Jul 3, 2007 at 11:41

I served in the US Army in Germany in 1974 and I recall several bombings by Islamic radicals of disco's and bars attended by US GI's with many resulting deaths and injuries. These bombings were not classified as terrorism but instead were investigated by the German police as crimes. Radical Islamic groups openly claimed credit for attacking Americans and Islamic anti-American graffiti was rampant in Frankfurt. I have searched the internet for references to these events but without success.

Perhaps someone knows of references. Based on my experiences in Germany, I would date the first Islamic attacks on Americans to 1974 at the latest.
