USA is moral leader

Reader comment on item: "Death to America"
in response to reader comment: The Barbary Wars

As an Australian who appreciates everything the USA has done to save the free world, I nominate the events that one would think would bring about mass support for the USA:

Made Japan free, prosperous and safe.

Made Germany free, prosperous and safe.

Saved South Korea and ensured that it is free, prosperous and safe.

Saved Australia (and therefore New Zealand) - free, prosperous and safe.

Saved Taiwan - free prosperous and safe.

Saved Thailand - free, prosperous and safe. (If the USA hadn't made winning for the communists in Vietnam so difficult then Thailand would have been next to be engaged in civil war).

Helped to ensured that the communists failed in Indonesia - resulting in the Indonesians having a fair chance of becoming free, prosperous and safe

Giving Iraq a chance of becoming free, prosperous and safe.

Wrecked the aims of totalitarian aims of the USSR

And so on.

Yet there are people who are anti the USA. It is hard to comprehend. I believe that George Bush will eventually be seen as one of the great Presidents. He took the fight to the enemy and we will eventually win as a result.

One aspect of American life however that needs altering is the trash culture of murder, sleaze and vulgarity oozing out of TV and film. This is alienating many decent and respectable people and needs to be restrained. USA porn is a factor that disgusts many people and detracts from the respect that would be normally be shown to US citizens. As an ex infantry officer in the Australian Army I know about bad language but the typical conversation of young Americans is degrading and foul.

So, full support for the USA - for better or for worse our moral leader.
