Even More Americans Have Been Murdered by Islamists

Reader comment on item: "Death to America"

Submitted by Vijay Dandapani (United States), Sep 9, 2002 at 14:57

Your chronology of Americans killed in the war on terrorism excludes the numerous US citizens killed in Pakistan, an ostensible ally.

Besides the recent grotesque beheading of Daniel Pearl, four employees of UNOCAL were brutally gunned down in November 1997.

That barbaric tradition has a hoary past and includes the 1979 killing of two US nationals as a "reaction" to (false) rumors that the US was behind the seizure of the mosque in Mecca.

That was followed by the "mysterious" crash that killed the former dictator of Pakistan, Zia-ul-Haq and the US Ambassador to Pakistan at that time, Arnold Raphael in 1988.

In 1995, American Donald Hutchings was taken hostage and killed by Pakistani terrorists while on a trek in the strife torn Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

More recently, in march of this year church bombings in Pakistan killed two US citizens.
