okay what i meant by that was that the way you said what you said about history made it sound as though there is no good reason to look at history if it is an irrepressible cycle (and therefore will affect our views on the world, in a negative way)............. so what i was saying (pretty much in an overly complicated way) was that although in some ways history may appear to be an irrepressible cycle (or at least show itself in that way) it is not entirely...... like i said with the saint and the sinner, what i was saying there was that :

if we declare something for example "good. or bad" (like what you did with history) we are dividing it, and because we are dividing it, the one side (say........ good) cannot be without the other (bad) or the saint (good) and the sinner (bad).

so pretty much i'm saying that history is not just an irrepressible past, ....... sorry i made that so complicated, never meant to....
