Clarification re Crusades

Reader comment on item: Jihad and the Professors

Submitted by Ruth McNulty (United States), May 20, 2005 at 21:23

Came across this great site today. You can't find much truth in the mainline media.

Please note that the Crusades were fought on the orders of the Roman Catholic Church popes
by Roman Catholics. If you study the Crusades in greater depth, you will find that the intent of the Crusades was to obtain the Holy Land for the popes, not only to destroy the Muslim invader/occupiers. Not only Muslims were the victims of the Crusades, but also the Jews and, even to a greater extent, non-papist, Bible believing Christians. (Augustine in his CITY OF GOD justified torture and even death to force conversions. The popes ran with this idea.)

Also, please note that when fundamentalist Muslims slaughter non-Muslims, they are following the dictates of their scriptures. When "Christians" slaughter, it is in direct opposition to the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles.
