in response to reader comment: Why is Indonesia over 90% Muslim?

Mr Imran Khan,

India did not let in the muslims -- as a matter fact, it resisted for over two and a half centuries. The then-king fought and forgave Mehmud of Ghaznavi 17 times for invading, but on the 18th occasion Ghaznavi won. Did he forgive the Hindu king? No, HE HORRIBLY TORTURED HIM. You may also know that the Persians also fought hard -- tooth and nail -- to keep Islam out of Persia.

Islam invaded India; they were not invited. As for the disappearance of minorities from from Islamic lands - remember the butchery of Pakistani soldiers in Bangladesh where over 3 million were butchered. The majority were Hindus. Remember too, the genocide of Armenians by the Turks etc.

We don't know how Islam spread to Indonesia: just over 500 years ago all of indonesia was Hindu. My guess is it was not gentle persuasion but more coersion of the weak and by bribery of the criminal elements as is the case nowdays.

Plus note too that islam is the fastest growing religion in prisons. Why does Islam attract the criminal minded persons so much?! Then why should I question the behaviour of ordinary muslims if they commit acts of violence or commit theselves to jihad.

You said that: Only in the last 30 years Islamists have been coming to Europe as immigrants and not invaders, but I wonder when I hear about the riots in UK and rampages in Belgium (Haselt) and in Netherlands by Muslim youth. So this may answer your questions why Islamists were not here in Europe prior to 30 years ago: maybe the older generation of Europeans knew what to expect and understood the true nature of Islam better, as they were the colonial masters of the Middle East.
