in response to reader comment: Why is Indonesia over 90% Muslim?

Submitted by Chrono (Switzerland), Nov 2, 2002 at 19:34

Indonesia has always been mostly Muslim, then came other religions which gained new converts and still are. There is currently mass murdering of Christians by Muslim militants.

For Bangladesh and Pakistan and the other islamic countries (Turkey, Lebanon...etc) there are several reasons: a very high Muslim fertility rate (that is the reason why Islam is the fastest growing religion or should I say fastest breeding religion), and lower fertility rates for the minorities, the killing of the minorities, forced conversions and a large number of minorities who flee to a friendlier place. ..
