Anti-Catholicism

Reader comment on item: Jihad and the Professors

In an age were the world witnesses the onslaught of militant Islam ( a rebirth of what the crusaders had to deal with)

Commenter Ruth McNulty seems to have nothing better to do than to add her 2 cents to the distortion of history perpetrated in countless pseudo-scientific pamphlets and books published and circulated with the protestant reformation and especially popular among anti-catholic protestants today.

Never mind that objective historical research has long since re-visited topics like the inquisitions and the crusades and has come up with an objective picture true to the facts and favourable to the Catholic Church. Of course Mrs. McNulty alligns herself with the Political Left with Atheists with Islam in this case who wholeheartedly would agree with her statements implying a power creedy church apparatus and a fanatical St. Augustine ( a hero to many reformed protestants btw.) but that does not seem to bother her one bit.

Perhaps she is even one or two of the above ( agnostic ,liberal, muslim - who knows)

Mrs, McNulty certainly seems to have bought into the half-truths and lies spread in the so called liberal media when it comes to painting an accurate picture of Christian History.

In doing so she erodes the judeo-christian roots of society (again this might just be what she wants to do or could care less about.) Am I frustrated about such ignorance┬┤? I bet you can tell that I am!

Perhaps I am doing Mrs. McNulty an injustice and she is not motivated by influences above just
a wrong headed protestant zeal that views the Catholic Church as the anti-Christ and does not recognize that Christians all all stripes in fact man and women of good will should stand together fighting the culture of death of secularism and Islam ect.

Mrs. McNulty is really interested in material thats supressed in the mass media I urge her to be open to read Robert Spencer┬┤s upcomming book on the REAL history of the Crusades.

One could even read more detailed histories of the Crusades from distinguished historians (not liberal even so called "catholic" pseu-historians with an axe to grind or anti-catholic protestant or islamic pampleteers)
But that could actually involve research which is a bit more strenous than looking up website or giving ones 2 cents in an e-mail ( which I have just done as well of course:)

God bless all

PS: it would be really interesting to read quote and citation from Augustines City of God where he wrote what Mrs. McNulty said he wrote. I doubt that Mrs. McNulty ever read this alleged sentiment of Augustine because -- yes you guessed it -- he never said what Mrs. McNulty makes him say.
