Nothing is wrong with the verse 8:60. It says, be ready for war. Yes, every country in defense wants their enemy to know it. "Dont mess with us" thats the motto of every army. Believe it or not. Its true. Muslims wont just sit and have dinner. While you prepare your armies to attack them, they are also commanded to retaliate. Its their right to protect themselves. There is nothing wrong with killing your people. If they want to kill our people. If the Kuffaar (non-Muslims) want to make peace, theyre welcome.

Allaah says in verse 8:61 (right after 8:60 with which youre fliyng in the air). Escort the enemy to SECURE PLACE if he wants peace. Islam is so beautiful, security for someone who wanted to kill you. Glorified be Allaah.
