My Dear Fellow,

Rape is a global phenomena. As long as there are weak men, there will be rapes. Strongmen don't indulge in rape. Strength lies is in belief and basic humanity and being, it does not lie in being physically strong enough to persecute the weak.

Rape is an act of volence and requires an agressor and a wronged person. Once tthere is agression all decent people should object. There is no excuse for agression. Any aggression unless, you have been attacked, is to be condemned. Then strike terror in the agressor's heart and prevent others from commiting the same act or any other act of agression. If you catch a rapist, then castrate him publically and flog him to death publically. This is so violent, that others will fear retribution and will be more repulsed by the punishment and fear will enter their minds and hearts. If retribution is weak then the crime will persist. You may call this attitude inhuman perhaps, but what about the violence inflicted on the person who was raped? Human Rights are not only for those who are to be persecuted by law they extend across the board to cover everyone. So to prevent future transgressions be swift and sure in your punishment. You will deter all who commit crimes and are slack in their duties.

Think about it. A society cannot exist in chaos. Freedom is never total. Chaos is another name for complete freedom. The restrictions on our individual freedom is the essence of the social contract. Thus protection of the Social Contract transcends the punishment, no matter how brutal, of a person who broke the Social Contract. It then means whilst there is individual freedom, transgression of law is not acceptable.

Once, a matter comes into the public eye, Law no matter how slack or corrupt the law enforceres are, they will have to take action. rape doesn't become special or peculiar just because it appears in National Geographic. How many rapes in the USA has National Geographic covered?

Think be objective and try to have the strength and the courage to be a decent human being. Truth does not lie in National Geographic exclusively or with NGOs.

With regards

Fazal Habib Curmally
