Jesus rose from the dead. That fact makes a big difference about whether His words are authoritative. Since you very likely reject His resurrection, you have no difficulty rejecting His authoritative words, or at least picking and choosing among them (which would include explaining away His meaning, as you have done). That is not an option for me. Jesus is all or nothing. Many people have attempted to disprove His resurrection without success; you are certainly welcome to get in line for another try.
