"1400 years ago, slavery was deep rooted in the society. This is the reason Islam did not ban it outrightly, but it introduced reforms which will gradually and ultimately wipe out slavery.

Islam said, free people cannot be slaved. It also motivated its followers to free the slaves for earning good life in Hereafter. Finally it made the duty that Islamic government will use a part of Zakat money on freeing slaves."

Mauritiania, mali, saudi arabia and sudan, all muslim countries, all with legal slavery.

Enough said.

So what were you saying about islam "reformed" slavery?
