I must admit I repeated a peice of information provided by a colleague, an Indian -born physician, and never checked on it properly.

What I was really after is that Islam as a faith is colored by the ethnic back-ground of the people who accepted it, be they Persian, Hindu, Pahtan, or Jewish. relating to Arab Muslims, I can see a pattern where the most murderous and ruthless of them is always the one calling the final shots.

Saudi Arabia supports the most virulent mode of Wahhabism. Hamas holds sway in Gaza. Hafez Assad killed 30 000 people in a few days in Hama-on-Orontes to make his point. Iraq is a bloody mess where the most murderous vie for power, as did Saddam. Turks have shown 80 years of resistance to Radical Islam and they are great American and Israeli allies.
