Reader comment on item: A Million Moderate Muslims on the March

"An estimated 300,000 secularists (i.e., moderate Muslims) held up banners ..."

Bingo. Moderate = secularist, and no less. Religious governance of any kind is inherently extremist, because it allows the force of the state to be based on metaphysical beliefs that a portion of the population does not share, and cannot be expected to. I sure wish Pres. Bush and the leaders of Europe would take this opportunity to stand up and say "we're secular forever". But I don't know if Bush feels that way, and a lot of the European countries are too engangled with religion to make it convincing. It's the only way, however.
