Moderate Muslims need to act.

Reader comment on item: A Million Moderate Muslims on the March

Submitted by Sol Ende (Australia), May 8, 2007 at 22:02

Your comments about moderate Muslims do not convince me. At a recent lecture by a prominent American he made the same statement about the majority of Muslims being moderate. After the lecture I asked him privately whether he believed this & what evidence he based it on. His reply was No, he did not believe it, but could not publicly admit this.

My view is that it is only the "moderate majority" Muslims who can remove the extremists, by force if neccessary even at the cost of many lives. If they do not or cannot, the failed attempt by Bush in Iraq has shown that the West cannot achieve this. Only a major confrontation between a united West & the Muslims led by the extremists, may achieve this & is inevitable sooner rather than later. Diplomacy with extremist Muslims is meaningless but suits them while they build up their strength, infiltrate & undermine western democracies while at the same time feeling free to carry out their terrorism & killings unless exposed & stopped.
