Dr. Benkin,
Firstly, I strongly advise you to seek the writings of Wafa Sultan. A medical doctor like us, In her "travels," Dr. Sultan has witnessed the conduct of "moderate Muslims" first-hand and has developed a well-seasoned opinion regarding where their hearts really are. She stated in the Ayn Rand UCLA lecture "series" available on the Ayn Rand website(March 2007)that the number of Muslims who both deny the violent teachings in the Koran and the Hadith, and who would risk their lives in the name of peace (I paraphrase here), denying their fellow Islamists is indeed very small. She views the conversion of the "Arab street" as nearly a hopeless cause, and my experience with professional Muslims back this up. What to do with the moderates> Read on...

Regarding your attacks on some of the greatest doctors of the Church (Augustine, et.al.,) you must not forget that the Catholic faith (the "mother "faith of Christianity) has had a two millenia love-hate affair with Judaism. Pre-Vatican II Catholicism did indeed lay blame for Christ's crucifixion on the Jews, and Jews were mistreated. But Papal Bulls and encyclicals did not result in Zarkawi-like decapitations! And the Inquisition was overrated regarding its alleged tortures. The overwhelming opinion amongst moderate Muslims that I know is that America caused this anti-American hatred. That view, in my opinion, is despicable.

And I dare you to find a "moderate Muslim" who supports the existence of the state of Israel or who views Hamas or Hezbollah as true terrorist evil. I know three Lebanese surgeons in NJ who consider these groups as a positive force in Middle East politics, all willing to overlook the barbarism of which these groups are capable. I know two families in Kiryat Shmona who lost relatives to Katusha rocketry in 2006. The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (of which I am a member) provided financial support for their families to relocate to points south. The survivors are bitter but pray for peace rather than the vindictive destruction of Palestinians.

Many "moderate" Muslims IDENTIFY WITH anti-Zionist actions and retaliation in general. Why? Because the Koran advocates the perpetration of "justified" violence in the name of Allah. These feelings of vindictiveness span the globe from Mosques in Virgina to Djakarta...from Hamburg, Germany to Istanbul, from Morocco to Somalia..and so on. If we can convince this 25% of the world's population to "tone it down," that would be a good first move. But we must clean house at home first.

American-based Muslims must assimilate. Enclaves like Dearborn, MI must not be allowed to form in the first place. JudeoChristian populations the world over must accellerate their procreative efforts, else we will be the ultimate minorities in an Islamic world.:a world controlled by an anti-modern ideology created by a violent pedophile who most probably suffered from temporal lobe epilepsy which he interpreted as messages from Allah. Many Muslims supportive of Shahri 'a unfortunately embrace enough of Mohammad's outrageousness (misogyny, phalngeal or penile amputation, clitoral amputation, all for whatever reasons....religious "tradition", punishment, etc.) Islam is anti-modern and anti-equality and must be phased out around the world.

If the moderates develop into full-blown Islamists, it will be of their own doing. And if it happens that we must embark upon open warfare with Islam, then I say so be it. The world has plenty of room for another crusade, and I most certainly will not shun the responsibility to support western values at the "breech end" of a weapon. The "recent" hike in oil prices was not only a supply/demand problem. The Islamic countries that comprise OPEC decided to effectively reduce or not increase supply. This harmed the American economy, which in turn weakened the derivative market to a degree unimaginable by the Shieks. Now the Shieks are fit to be tied with such low demand, and this has had a major negative effect on many Islamic economies...and conditions could worsen.

Gun sales in the US have skyrocketed, as have junk silver coin sales. (It is commonly believed that junl silver (circulated pre-1965 silver coin) will be the primary currency of the black markets "when our currency supposedly collapses within the next few months/years." ) I don't know what will happen, but rest assured that as we "suffer", the third world will suffer more severely. If Islam gets out of control, I have no doubts that our nation will delay the use of population-controlling tactical nukes until the last possible moment before our nation collpses. But such weaponry may ultimately need to be used against this 25% should they choose the route of inflicting harm on America.

The presence of a demasculinized anti-capitalist ...indeed, even Marxist president (Obama) will assure a severe diminution in our standard of living with intractibly high energy prices and a concommitant increase in the onset of Islamofascist attacks. Islam and American exceptionalism are like oil and water...a Holy war is unquestionably inevitible should Islamofascism be seen as responsible for deterioration here at home. But the non-assimilated Muslim who is holed up in a mosque (like the population in Dearborn, MI) will represent a problem that must be put down if it gets out of hand. Rest assured, Doctor, these are NOT peaceful times.
