Thanks for taking the time to express your thoughts with care and reason. You have given food for thought which I need to parse when time allows. I do agree with you that children of 1st generation immigrant muslims are facing challenges that they are not equipped to handle.

We see testament of these challenges in both of horrific kind such as honor killings (eg: Aqsa Parvez in Dec 2007 Toronto) and of the quieter kind, the children coping in angst, anger and frustration, waiting for the day of freedom, or complete acquiesence to family/the "ummah" and hence, total alienation, ergo "the bunker mentality", found in near fortress muslim communities unable to engage with their non-muslim neighbours. I will comment more later. Thanks again for your efforts.
