Reader comment on item: Resisting Islamic Law

Submitted by bernard (United States), Feb 20, 2008 at 20:11

A former neighbor, of obviously British descent and not any kind of Muslim, spent some profitable years working under the restraints of Saudi Arabia. He acquired there a Saluki bitch who returned to the States with him in the late '80s. As a fellow dog-lover, I asked about dogs in the Kingdom. He was unhappy about their derogation and even abuse of a native dog like the Saluki and the insistence of the rich on importing breeds like the more effete varieties of French poodle.

But then, as we know from their alcoholism, Sharia laws are not observed by the rich and powerful but, as the late Mme Helmsley would have it, by "the little people." And you are entirely correct that these spurious and cynical observances of "the law" are attempts at control of the dhimmis and must be resisted. If these devout Muslims want to lead ritually pure lives, let them find some desirable Islamic country to which to migrate. I'm sure there must be at least one such. Mustn't there?
