Reader comment on item: Resisting Islamic Law
in response to reader comment: Unreasonable argument

Submitted by Doc Tater (United States), Feb 29, 2008 at 12:58

Marine writes: "Mr. Pipes' argument; Islam changes its position based on the agenda it is trying to support. Logic and consistency are not tools they use to support their position."

Doc replies" "You're right on target, bud."

Marine implores us: "Stop worrying about dogs and look at the essence of Mr. Pipes' argument..."

Doc replies: I think that all the concern expressed in these comments about Islam's bias against dogs isn't really a distraction. What it does, and I think you can appreciate this, is to provide an emotional, heart-felt connection to the issue for many people who have previously found it difficult to understand what all the commotion is about..

I know that some of my friends and associates, ones who have been pretty wishy-washy and uncommitted up to this point, finally get the message about Islam's dangers when they finally learn how Islam approaches dogs.

If you read all the sunnah about dogs, which is full of inconsistencies and mutually incompatible notions, it actually demonstrates the point you make: logic and reason don't seem to matter to Muslims."
