Not in the U.S.! We love our dogs!

Reader comment on item: Resisting Islamic Law

Muhammad taught the superstitious Muslims that dogs were bewitched and possessed of jinn [demons, devils, & evil spirits]. When the 'prophet' and his desert pirates plundered and pillaged a building and made it in to a mosque wandering dogs would frequently pass through and urinate on everything. This angered and insensed him.

"When you recite Our (Qur'an) proofs and verses they cry, 'Tales of the ancients, mere fables of long ago.' Soon shall We muzzle them and brand the beast on the snout!" This was a reference to non-believers and naysayers characterized as muzzled dogs.

Another animal that will cause Muslims concern and inspire them to flee in fear is the donkey. Its shrill bray, to them, is actually Satan calling after them, specifically beckoning.

They still believe this today and place even greater fear association upon a large black dog. Since many assist dogs are German Shepherds a sight impaired person with a leashed dog freaks them.
