Turkey didn't accept anything. The so called "reforms" were imposed through terror and intimidation by a drunken and bloodthirsty tyrant who himself had started hi career as a fully-fledged jihadist "ghazi" - the destroyers of kafirs- responsible for the most horrifying Christian genocides of the surviving Armenians, the Greeks and the Assyrians.By exterminating everything non-Moslem he made Turkey today's monoculture - the 99,8% pure Islamic country second only to Saudi Arabia! And this is exactly what makes his "secularism" such a parody and lie to fool stupid Westerners with who can't distinguish the official Turkish lie("secularism") from the Turkish reality, that every Turk adheres to Islam, i.e. the very opposite of what is meant by "secularism".

Don't spread official lies here, ... Turkey has never been a democracy in the first place. Kemal appointed some of his followers to act as an opposition party. When the wretched men took their task too seriously and told a few bitter truths in the dictator's face, he had them all hanged in public and went on to rule in a one-party "republic", i.e. in plain text dictatorship. The notorious law on the sanctity of his memory and other oppressive laws criminalize freedom of though and expression and if you have seen any "democracy" without freedom to speak what one thinks then I'd be glad to hear from you again.Otherwise I suggest you stop lying and making fool of yourself.
