An economic initiative to resolve most of the problems.

Reader comment on item: Is Turkey Going Rogue?

Submitted by Samir (United States), Sep 28, 2011 at 17:01

I am proposing a water-carrying pipeline running from Turkey in the eastern Med with lateral feedoffs to Syria, Lebanon, Israel and East Falasteen (West Bank), Jordan, West Falasteen (Gaza), Cyprus, and Sinai. In one fell swoop Turkey would attain influence beyond its wildest dreams, resolve the aridity problems of the MidEast - if coupled with Israel's water-saving and desert agriculture, resolve the very essence of the water based bellicosity between the various groups, and generate unheard of prosperity in the whole region. Why in the Med? For the obvious reason that it would then be relatively free of threats from human damage.
