in response to reader comment: Change by women

Dear Ahmed,

At last, a sane muslim voice in this forum.. see we were getting seriously bored with the mansoors and amins..

you wrote:

I have long believed that the greatest hope for the reformation of Islam lies with the women of Islam. Long ago women held important positions of power and wealth in the region and the time has come again for them to reassert themselves

Thats absolutely correct, but the question you must answer is who should empower the women of ISLAM?? Is it the free values of the so called western society?? Emancipated women of other faiths?? or should the men of ISLAM take the initiative?? Better still do the Maulvis and the IMAMS take on the onus of highlighting the true position of women in ISLAM..

What the world sees today is a veiled , baby making, house worker who is under strict survellaince from both, the men and the keepers of faith.

if things are to change then it is the moderates like you who have to take the initiative..

yours truly

Proud Indian
