This is my contribution in response to Thiagan and Amin Riazs treatises on "will Europe Resist Islamisation?.

I argue that resisting the match of islam further into Europe is a futile exercise. I observe, rightly or wrongly, an insipient, quiet, deliberative creeping islamism into Europe, despite the rampant extremism of the religion ,propagated by a warp-minded minority. The contribution of islam to world civilisation need not be stated here.

But look at what the children of Mohammed have done with his bequeath? Or are we to see them as the dogs of the islamic resurgence or what? Alas, both sides have sinned and come short of mankinds glory. Admittedly, islam or its adherents forswear that it is a religion of peace but its very foundation, structure , sub-structure, warts and all, were built on the philosophy, principle and precept of violent conversion of the infidel, not reasoning which the christian faith espouse s. Christianity out its own dose of violence to propagate its faith.

this point Amin Riaz highlighted in his comment of 10th April,2008.

It is easy to blanket all muslims as walking time bombs. Wrong. The issues run far deeper than that. The world will need to show a deeper understanding of the undercurrents of the present firmamaent of islamism. Europe must come to terms with its dark past. We are at the epochal juncture of history where Europe cannot gloss over her past, pontificate over other peoples shortcomings, while denying its moral obligations . Europe must pay the price for its adventurism and wicked colonial suzureinty over a large swath of the earth. Perhaps the chickens are coming home to roost. But back to our thought for the moment.

Will Europe resist islamisation. A loud no is my answer. The seeds of non-resistance were sewn many aeons ago. Creeping islamisation is the order of the day in the United Kingdom. The French have provided what appears to be a firm retort to the debate in banning the use of the head scarf in public places. All fair and good. But we miss the tree for the forest, a mere symbol that the scarf is. I interrogate the issue. Do you ban islam from their hearts? Do you ban islamic procreation? Do you stymie the northward movement of muslim demographics in western societies? Do you curtail the high birth rates among the muslim arab marriages to europeans within the context of islamic moderation infused with european permissiveness?

If the answer is no, then europe cannot resist this march.Perhaps they slap immigration quotas on muslim arab migration into europe. The dialectics of a sharia-driven islamisation of europe is neither here nor there, but the socialising typology where young arab muslims born and culturated in the ways of europe, unislamised, developing a mcdonald sub-culture, variagated from that of their fathers, is the one that will hold sway. What is Europe to do about islamisation?

The price of peace is eternal vigillance. Gates must be errected at the barricades. Muslims must intergrate into their host societies of else we will be having religious bantustans in europe. Within the democratic ethos of Europe will you situate the moral dilemma that the continent is confronted with. While flaunting liberal democratic credentials for others to emulate, Europe must balance this ethos with the need to preserve its age old europeness on the one hand and openess to other cultures for continued renewal, on the other. That is the heart of the matter.
