Blind tolerance is new to history

Reader comment on item: Will Europe Resist Islamization?

It is only in recent history that the West has tolerated the presence of Muslims. Before that the West kept them out. Our tolerance for this obnoxious West-hating people is the only reason they are here. Accompanying this apparently boundless social trait of tolerance is an even more recent, saving, factor in our society: the free flow of information. For the first time in history we common folk are seeing the true face of Islam, and it's not the smiley face guy you work with, nor is it Omar Shariff or the Genie.

In past centuries our masters, kings, elite politicians, corporate magnates -- the whole lot of them -- censored what we could learn about Islam. Their paramount interests were in empire, imperialism, business...oil. But today we see, with our own eyes, 9/11's and 7/7's. We hear Bin Laden say "Death is better than living on this earth among infidels." We see the Iranian Achmennutjob call for our destruction. We read bald-faced lies Muslims tell, right here.

But most of all we hear and see the universal Muslim silence -- after every Muslim outrage against non-Muslims...silence. Year in and year out, nothing but silence. They never riot or demonstrate or sign petitions or start anti-Islamofacist organizations or do anything to oppose their murderous brother-Muslims -- never. Ever see a Muslim-garbed guy carrying a sign saying, "Stop Muslim terrorism"? But print a cartoon of Mohamed? Run for cover! Muslims, by the millions, worldwide, riot, pillage and kill! And that is the true face of Islam. That is the truth about Islam, slowly spreading among us tolerant, well informed common folk.

Feckless nations like Canada and most in the EU will deal with them the way all appeasers do...they'll appease themselves into oblivion, as represented by this Dutch dufus: The Hague, 13/09/06 - Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner considers the Netherlands should give Muslims more freedoms to behave according to their traditions. "For me it is clear: if two-thirds of the Dutch population should want to introduce the Sharia tomorrow, then the possibility should exist," according to Donner. "It would be a disgrace to say: 'That is not allowed!'." Americans (and Russians) are not feckless appeasers. As we learn more about this obnoxious group we'll ponder ways to deal with THEM, and we are learning: Gallup Poll '07: 82% of Americans identify with Christianity. A recent poll sponsored by the Chicago CFR and the German Marshall Fund of the US stated that 79 percent of Americans favored keeping Muslims out. A recent poll: 62% of Russian youth want to evict immigrants (muslims): "But if they stay they must obey Russian laws and customs." Pew Research Poll 9-25: "Americans' attitudes about Muslims are more negative now than in years past." 35% of us have negative views about the smiley-face Muslims.

For myself, I shun Muslims whenever possible -- try to make them feel like women in a Muslim nation, as in this, from the June '07 edition of Conde Nast Traveler magazine regarding Saudi Arabia: -women should cover their heads and cannot rent or drive cars or ride taxis solo. -in restaurants men must be seated separately from women and children. -visiting hours for museums and malls are separate for men only. -the religious police ("mutawwain") are "efficient and inflexible." That's the "Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice."
