Where is resistance?

Reader comment on item: Will Europe Resist Islamization?

Submitted by Kurtlane (United States), Apr 4, 2008 at 03:25

Sorry, Daniel, I don't see any real signs of resistance in Europe. Two courageous individuals making their statements is not resistance. Banning head scarfs in public schools is not resistance. Not building new mosques is not enough. New restrictions on immigration are tiny and meaningless (as Geert Wilders admitted).

Another good article, another good movie, good book, good statement... "Oh, how well Cicero speaks." And nobody does a thing. Muslim immigration keeps growing, polygamous marriages keep producing more children, al-Muhajoroun (under whatever new name) and Dyab Abou Jahjah and thousands like them keep preaching hate, major Muslim organizations cover up and excuse terrorism, and Western politicians cower more than ever.

You say that an honest debate over Islam must take place. Haven't we had enough debates? I have. Anyone who has one eye open sees the problem. What is the solution?

You write about RESISTANCE to Islamification, REASSERTION of traditional European ways, and majority INSISTING on their historic customs and mores. Great, but what do these words actually mean? Could you please be more specific? What must be done?

Daniel Pipes replies:

Muslims are permanently in Europe. The goal, in brief, must be to adopt policies that will help them fit in. The time is late and the possibilities slim, but this still must remain the urgent goal.
