Reader comment on item: Will Europe Resist Islamization?
in response to reader comment: K. Ahmed: good points

Submitted by K.H. Ahmed (United States), May 5, 2008 at 16:29

I have long believed that the greatest hope for the reformation of Islam lies with the women of Islam. Long ago women held important positions of power and wealth in the region and the time has come again for them to reassert themselves.

My family is Turkish and I have long taken pride in the secular nature of our state and actions by the recent govenrment have caused me great concern for the land of my fathers. But I have seen the response from so many of the women of that country that I am sure there is no danger of returning to the old ways of pre-attaturk.

I wish you good fortune in your endeavors.
