As another example of the differences in our viewpoints, I present you this.

Today I read that there was a suicide bombing in Sri Lanka, committed by the Tamil rebels. Suicide attacks by the Tamil rebels have been prevalent in Sri Lanka, as well as numerous murders of civilians in this rebellion.

Now I ask you this - if the Tamil rebels were Muslim - which they are not - wouldn't you have been using this as an example of Muslim Islamist violence? But it is clearly not. In many parts of the third world, Muslims rebel in the same way as the Tamil rebels have for various social reasons - the cause is not Islam, but the underlying social political reasoning, whether right or wrong.

In fact Islam - in every form and every sect - prohibits suicide and thus suicide bombings, even in self defense. Yet, this does not stop the Palestinian Muslim suicide attacks. You have to look at the underlying social problem (in the case of Israel/Palestine, a movement by the Palestinians for self determination and land), rather than the religion of the actors in the conflict.

The philosophy of Islamism must be fought because it suppresses human rights and human progress, technological and otherwise. This battle of ideology and thought cannot be fought effectively and won, when people like yourself conflate ordinary rebellions and/or ethnic conflict, with the philosophy of Islamism itself.
