More Moderate Muslim Madness

in response to reader comment: Segregation is reborn

Muslims in the US wonder why they are regarded with suspicion by their non-Muslim neighbors. The constantly complain at the smallest slight, and yet they ignore their own deeply offensive behavior.

No one here is suggesting the Muslim drivers not be allowed to do as they please, only that if they want a publicly granted hack license - which obliges them to take all comers (subject to certain universally applicable exceptions such as the obviously violent) - they have to be willing to play by the same rules as everyone else.

For my part, I think Muslims should be grateful to be here and have the freedom they have to worship as they choose, and even to advocate for their own 7th century practices. If they are not willing to abide by our conventions of public behavior, they they must not expect to be part of the community.

If Muslims want to self-segregate, that is their business. But, if they self-segregate, they cannot complain of discrimination.
