Discriminatory Accomodation

Reader comment on item: Don't Bring That Booze into My Taxi

Submitted by HD Medina (United States), Oct 12, 2006 at 13:03

I find this entire discussion bizzare as well as ironic. A minority of pharmacists that are Catholic refuse to dispense 'morning-after contraceptives/potential abortifacients' and are targeted by Planned Parenthood and NARAL sites, anti-religious choice legislation i.e. SB 809, loss of employment, and a spath of litigation i.e. Wal Mart. Their conscious choice to practice their religious conscience becomes a rallying cry of oppostion against imposing moral values on the public. On the other hand, a belief system that continues to impose its moral values on others by the 'sword' in Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Pakistan, Mauritania, and Indonesia gets an accommodation in the country of tolerance. It shows that 'will to power' through intimidation trumps our ever-eroding notion of justice in the once land of the free.
